How to play

  1. Clear enough space, place your device safely and turn up the volume.
  2. Choose the dance time: Random for surprise stops, or 10, 20 or 30 seconds for a non-stop dance party with a countdown.
  3. Press Play and dance while the music plays.
  4. When the music stops: FREEZE! In the classic game, a parent, teacher or friend is the judge. In the camera games, the app is the judge.

Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later)tvOS 17 or lateriPhone or iPad with iOS / iPadOS 17 or laterApple Account with two-factor authentication
  1. Connect your iPhone or iPad as a camera for Apple TV, for example from FaceTime on Apple TV, and confirm on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tip: on tvOS 18 or later, go to Settings › Remotes and Devices › Dedicated Camera to keep an iPhone ready at all times. The iPhone must stay connected to power.
  3. Place the iPhone or iPad in landscape orientation near the TV, on a stable stand, so that every dancer is visible from head to toe.
  4. Open Freeze Dance Fun. The Camera button appears automatically as soon as a camera is connected, together with the message “Camera connected”.

To disconnect, tap Pause or Disconnect on the Lock Screen of your iPhone or iPad.

Tips for the camera games

  • Put the device on a stable surface or stand. Never hold it while dancing.
  • Step back until your whole body is visible, from head to toe.
  • Use bright, even light and avoid a bright window behind the dancers.
  • Leave enough space between dancers and stay in view for the whole round. Dancers who leave the picture are shown as “Not seen”.
  • In Dance score and Solo, standing still for two seconds or more costs points – keep moving with the music.

Frequently asked questions

I can’t see the Camera button.

The button only appears when a camera is available. On Apple TV, connect an iPhone or iPad as a camera first (see Camera on Apple TV). If you connect a camera while the app is open, the button appears automatically.

The app says “Allow camera access in Settings”.
  • iPhone and iPad: Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera › turn on Freeze Dance Fun.
  • Mac: System Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera › turn on Freeze Dance Fun.
  • Android: Settings › Apps › Freeze Dance Fun › Permissions › Camera.
The camera doesn’t recognize every dancer.

Make sure every face is clearly visible, the light is good and dancers don’t stand directly behind each other. Step back until everyone fits into the picture and wait a moment until each dancer is shown on screen before you start.

Why did a dancer get fewer points?

In the Freeze game, only the first dancer to freeze scores, and dancers who did not dance get no point. In Dance score and Solo, points are based on rhythm, energy, variety, moves and flow, and standing still for two seconds or more reduces the score. Camera scores are automatic estimates and can be affected by light, distance and camera position.

There is no sound.

Turn up the volume on your device or TV and check which speaker, headphones or AirPlay / Bluetooth device is selected. On Apple TV, also check the audio output of your TV or sound system.

Where are my mixes and stars saved?

Only on your device. They are not synced between devices and are deleted when you delete the app.

Does the app need the internet? Are photos or videos saved?

No internet connection is needed, and the app has no ads, no accounts and no tracking. Camera images are analyzed live on your device only; photos and videos are never saved or shared. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

How long should we dance?

Take regular breaks and drink enough water, especially in warm rooms. Children should always play under adult supervision, and longer sessions should only take place with an adult present. Please read the Safety Notice.
